Ngalawa House

Ngalawa in Swahili means “Tradtional double outrigger canoe of Swahili people living in Zanzibar” it is our brand new house with spacious and bright rooms offering you that relaxation feeling and extra ordinary views *opened Dec 2023,Ngalawa House has four bedrooms spread across two floors and boasts its own private beachfront

With rooms measuring 110 square meters. The rooms are made with local materials by our skilled local craftsmen bringing out the best version of an ecofriendly environment. Elevated on stilts, about a meter off the ground, this design helps maintain a cool and breezy atmosphere. The first floor and ground floor balconies, are well furnished with comfortable furniture where you can enjoy sipping a cup of spice tea while watching the excellent views or even relaxing on a beautiful hammock swinging while taking an afternoon nap .

Inside each room within Ngalawa , you’ll discover a four-poster bed, complete with mosquito netting for your comfort. Each room also have a desk with a chair, and an attractive bookshelf. All the furniture is handcrafted from reclaimed dhow wood, known for its durability and long lasting. The walls are adorned with woven palm leaves, and the floors are fashioned from dark wood, contributing to a naturally cool ambiance. Adding character and individuality, you’ll find colourful kangas, woven mats, and unique wall decorations. For your convenience, each room is equipped with a secure safe and a full-length mirror.

A wooden door separates the bedroom from the en-suite bathroom, which includes a hot shower and eco toilet (no water usage). Although there are four rooms in the building, a shared toilet facility is available for all guests. Rest assured, this toilet is well-maintained and regularly cleaned to ensure the comfort of all our guests.
